Client CAOP was looking for a party with experience in digitalizing employment conditions. MBO Nederland had a CLA (Collective Labor Agreement) that was only viewable as a static and cluttered PDF document. By digitalizing it, we created more overview, improved readability on mobile devices and for people with disabilities, and the target group now gets a 'web-like' user experience.
The existing CLA was a static and unclear document; there was a need for an interactive solution.
Teachers and other staff in vocational education (MBO)
MBO Nederland previously used an extensive PDF containing all employment conditions. As with virtually all large PDF files, however, a functional table of contents was missing, resulting in considerable scrolling. This made the user experience far from optimal. With the arrival of a new CLA, the need arose for a revised presentation that would make the CLA clearer and more accessible.
To improve the experience for its users, MBO CAO therefore went looking for a more effective solution, for example in the form of a new website or (web) application. Due to Get Interactive's previous involvement in the education sector, we were selected to tackle this challenge. Our extensive experience enabled us to achieve a great result.
Our advice was not to use an application, but to focus entirely on a suitable website, partly from a cost-saving perspective. After we had sent a number of sketches and designs, we got to work.

Moreover, we were able to directly ensure that reading the extensive information on a mobile phone is now no longer a problem and make everything more intuitive.

One of the first requirements was a clickable table of contents. Endless scrolling through a PDF and relying on a weak search function was not very user-friendly. In the new design, it is possible to click on chapters and go directly to the right section.
We also added advanced search features, allowing users to search directly in the CLA, for example for topics like leave or salary information. Additionally, we made everything measurable, which is not only useful for the client, but also for the user. They now have quick access to the most read sections.
In addition to improving the digital accessibility of the information, by taking into account the W3C and WCAG guidelines, we also made some changes to its presentation. Footnotes can be used via tooltips to explain certain matters further, without the CLA needing to be expanded further. We also provided user-friendly tables, both in terms of management and use.

In short: A custom-made interactive document full of handy options, readable with a cup of coffee on the couch.
The CLA document, which was previously only readable as a PDF file, is now visually organized, interactive, suitable for mobile, and can be reviewed digitally at a pace that suits the reader.
With all these changes, it is now possible to easily review the CLA on the couch with a cup of coffee.
